Hilton Head Christian Academy has gone 8-2 against John Paul II recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Warrriors at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hilton Head Christian Academy comes in on three and John Paul II on five.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Hilton Head Christian Academy sidestepped Tallulah Falls for a 4-3 win.
Roman Colella was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in February. Eli Morgan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, John Paul II got the win against Coastal HomeSchool on Thursday by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Golden Warrriors, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Archer Dewig made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Dewig was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Michaud, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
John Paul II always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coastal HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .286.
John Paul II pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hilton Head Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like John Paul II struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Hilton Head Christian Academy took their win against John Paul II when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Warrriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
