Baseball Recap: Friday Harbor Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Friday Harbor got themselves on the board against Concrete on Thursday, but Concrete never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Lions. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Mason Smith and Floyd Holman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Smith pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Holman kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Smith went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Holman went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Joseph Holt was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Will Youngsman, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Friday Harbor has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Concrete, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, Friday Harbor will be playing at home against Northwest Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Friday Harbor surely won't give up without a fight. As for Concrete, they will head out on the road to challenge Quilcene at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
