Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop). They put the hurt on the El Cajon Valley Braves with a sharp 29-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won five games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Bravo and Sydney Mafong made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bravo struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Mafong pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave Bravo a new career-high. At the plate, Bravo scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Mafong got on base in five of her six plate appearances with six RBI, four runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jayla Stafford was incredible, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Brunner, who scored three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.
Bishop's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Bishop's victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1. As for El Cajon Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
