Fairwinds Christian is 1-9 against Greenwood Mennonite since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairwinds Christian Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Greenwood Mennonite Flames at 6:30 p.m. Fairwinds Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Fairwinds Christian came up short against Chestertown Christian Academy and fell 64-53.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Levi Rajis, who scored 15 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Daniel Evans was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Greenwood Mennonite scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Faith Baptist School by a score of 67-56. Winning may never get old, but Greenwood Mennonite sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jude Harrison and Carter Long were among the main playmakers for Greenwood Mennonite as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds and the latter shot 4-for-5 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. Long hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Woody Bates, who scored six points along with 15 rebounds.
Fairwinds Christian now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Greenwood Mennonite, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fairwinds Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Greenwood Mennonite struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fairwinds Christian suffered a grim 59-33 defeat to Greenwood Mennonite when the teams last played on Friday. Can Fairwinds Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
