The Dickinson Gators came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 53-47 victory over Clear Springs. The victory was all the more spectacular given Dickinson's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Clear Springs is ranked 91st).
Dickinson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was David Chong out in front who scored 20 points along with two steals. Chong has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Diego Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Dickinson's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-17. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Clear Springs, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-9.
Dickinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clear Springs, they will head out on the road to square off against Clear Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clear Springs is facing Clear Falls at the right time seeing as Clear Falls is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
