The South Stokes Sauras will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Stokes is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Two weeks ago, South Stokes had to suffer through a rough 70-6 loss at the hands of Starmount. While losing is never fun, South Stokes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Starmount is ranked 148th).
Meanwhile, Bishop McGuinness came up short against Christ the King on Friday and fell 31-22.
Despite the loss, Bishop McGuinness got a solid performance out of Alex Waterfield, who threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped South Stokes to 2-8 and Bishop McGuinness to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for South Stokes against Bishop McGuinness in their previous meeting back in August of 2022 as the team secured a 49-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Stokes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
