The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints were the 57-26 winner over the Hampton Roads Academy Navigators when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy was beaten by the Navigators 59-19 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Navigators are ranked 121st).
Hampton Roads Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenzie Cooper out in front who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 rebounds. Cooper is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Zuriel Pendleton-morant, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Hampton Roads Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hampton Roads Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
