The Plumas Charter Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Loyalton by a score of 55-53. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plumas Charter in their matchups with Loyalton: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Plumas Charter saw an underclassman step up: Dalton Bentz scored 21 points along with six assists. Bentz hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Braden Harris, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Plumas Charter were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Loyalton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Shelby, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. Shelby is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Petterson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Plumas Charter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Loyalton, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.
Plumas Charter will look to defend their home court on Friday against Providence at 6:00 p.m. Providence is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Loyalton, they will head out on the road to take on Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
