1A Special District 1 (8 Man) recap Oct. 16, 2012
Falls City/Kings Valley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in 1A Special District 1 (8 Man). The Mountaineers defeated Portland Lutheran 76-54 earlier in the week.
St. Paul extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jewell, 70-32. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Buckaroos.
Jewell's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bluejays feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Matt Deponte has thrown for 249 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Blake Ellis has 11 catches for 88 yards. Deponte also leads the league in rushing with 556 yards.
A big matchup in 1A Special District 1 (8 Man) this week will be when the Bluejays take on Perrydale. At the moment, Jewell is in third, while the Pirates are in second.
Perrydale took down Days Creek 69-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
