The Fowler Grizzlies are on the road again on Friday and play against the Mancos Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, Fowler never let their opponents score. They blew past Dolores Huerta Prep, posting a 40-0 victory on the road.
Fowler got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cael True out in front who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Trever Ketner and his 91 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Fowler's win.
Meanwhile, Mancos entered their tilt with Norwood with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Mancos took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-0 victory over Norwood. Mancos pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Norwood had no chance of recovering from.
Mancos relied on the efforts of Kail Wayman, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and Levi Martin, who rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Derizotis, who picked up 55 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mancos' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Cole Dainty-Guilfoyle and his two sacks.
Fowler's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for Mancos, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Fowler has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 159.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mancos struggles in that department as they've been even better at 296.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Fowler was dealt a bruising 59-12 loss at the hands of Mancos in their previous matchup back in November of 2021. Thankfully for Fowler, Chase Moore (who rushed for 213 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
