This season hasn't been kind to the LBJ Austin Jaguars, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were outmatched by McCallum at home and fell 61-7. LBJ Austin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.
McCallum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emy Chen out in front who scored 14 points along with three steals. Chen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Shreves, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
LBJ Austin bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for McCallum, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-9.
LBJ Austin will head out on the road to square off against Northeast Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast Early College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for McCallum, they will be playing at home against Navarro at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Navarro is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
