5A Region 6 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Pinson Valley extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region 6 this week by beating Briarwood Christian, 40-21. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Indians.
Moody made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,010 from 6,972. The advance stemmed from a 33-14 victory over Southside last week.
Springville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. ZACK MAYO threw for 119 and one touchdown and JALANE RAMSEY had 73 yards receiving. On the ground MAYO chipped in 208 yards. DEONDRE WOODY helped Springville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 31 yards.
Jordan's Devlin Hodges and Logan Motte have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hodges has thrown for 1452 yards this season, while Motte, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 47 catches for 686 yards. MAYO from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 817 yards.
