The Glendale Prep Academy Griffins won the last time they faced the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans, and things went their way on Thursday too. Glendale Prep Academy walked away with a 49-39 victory over Scottsdale Preparatory Academy.
Maddox Smith was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Andersen, who scored two points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Glendale Prep Academy now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-11.
Glendale Prep Academy and Mountainside will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mountainside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Glendale Prep Academy is ranked 169th). As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Joseph City at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Joseph City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
