The Aurora Huskies will square off against the Fairbury Jeffs at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Aurora put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. They walked away with a 16-12 victory over Maxwell/St. Patrick's. With that win, the Huskies brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Jack Carstensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Aurora: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise. Carstensen was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Carstensen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Kiner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Kiner a new career-high. Another was Dylan Ronnau, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Aurora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Fairbury made easy work of Centennial on Tuesday and carried off a 14-4 victory. With that win, the Jeffs brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Like Aurora, Fairbury also got a great game from a two-way player: CJ Goeking. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goeking was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other pitching news, Dom Joe looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Jamison Runge was excellent, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jacob Nippert was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Aurora and bumps their season record up to 3-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Fairbury, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Aurora was able to grind out a solid win over Fairbury in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 17-12. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jeffs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
