Norris and Bennington are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Titans will take on the Badgers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Norris was able to grind out a solid victory over Gretna, taking the game 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won six in a row.
The team relied heavily on Ashton Monroe, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyson Gana, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bennington made easy work of Wahoo/Bishop Neumann on Friday and carried off an 8-2 victory.
Noah Langford was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Myles Gifford, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Bennington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wahoo/Bishop Neumann only posted a batting average of .222.
Norris' record is now 13-11. As for Bennington, their record now sits at 14-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Norris has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bennington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Norris came up short against Bennington in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 10-7. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
