Basketball Recap: Williston Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lincoln

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Williston). They strolled past the Lincoln Trojans with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 78-62. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Williston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayla Coleman, who went 5 for 6 en route to 13 points and six boards. Those six rebounds gave Coleman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Young, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points and four steals.

Williston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Lincoln's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Keeli Duncan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 boards, and Jamiya Brown, who posted 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Duncan is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for six straight games. Ashley Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Williston pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points per game. As for Lincoln, their record is now 11-5.

Williston has already played their next game, a 69-38 victory against Trinity Catholic on the 14th. As for Lincoln, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-38 loss against Florida State University High School on the 14th.
