Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bath County

Bath County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Dayton Greendevils as they made off with a 14-2 win.

Carson Coyle was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Coyle was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Bath County got a massive performance out of Zane McCarty, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs McCarty has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Colten Carpenter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Bath County's victory bumped their record up to 16-13-1. As for Dayton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bath County will challenge Raceland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dayton, they will square off against Gallatin County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Greendevils are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
