Plainedge is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while South Side is on a three-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Plainedge Red Devils will take on the South Side Cyclones at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainedge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 89th, while South Side is ranked 28th).
After soaring to 33 points the game before, Plainedge were a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roosevelt.
Meanwhile, South Side beat Lynbrook 33-20 on Thursday.
South Side's victory bumped their season record to 6-0 while Plainedge's defeat dropped theirs to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Plainedge against South Side when the teams last played back in September of 2021 as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. Will Plainedge repeat their success, or does South Side have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
