The Laurens Academy Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oconee Christian Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laurens Academy will be strutting in after a win while Oconee Christian Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Laurens Academy strolled past Spartanburg Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 54-38.
Meanwhile, Oconee Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newberry Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Caleb Van Steenburg, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rick Soto, who scored 7 points along with 3 steals.
The losses dropped Laurens Academy to 1-2 and Spartanburg Christian Academy to 0-3.
Laurens Academy beat Oconee Christian Academy 52-39 in their previous meeting back in February. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Oconee Christian Academy's Sam Burgess, who scored 21 points. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Laurens Academy to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
