The Union Academy Cardinals will square off against the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Academy is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Union Academy faced off against Grace Academy on Friday. Union Academy lost 18-7 to Grace Academy.
Union Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Moore, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Christian Pawl was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between NorthPoint Christian Academy and Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy, and NorthPoint Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. NorthPoint Christian Academy walked away with a 4-1 win over Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy on Thursday. The NightHawks haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Tyler Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Micah Enriquez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Weston Nutter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
NorthPoint Christian Academy pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Union Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Union Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like NorthPoint Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Union Academy's way against NorthPoint Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Union Academy made off with a 23-0 victory.
