The Cherry Creek Bruins won the last time they faced the Grandview Wolves, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Cherry Creek walked away with a 62-50 victory over the Wolves. Given Cherry Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Wolves are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
James Pearsall was a one-man wrecking crew for Cherry Creek as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Pearsall also grabbed two+ steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Hammond, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cole Holtman, who scored 12 points. Holtman is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Breven Anderson, who scored 12 points.
The victory got Cherry Creek back to even at 9-9. As for Grandview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Cherry Creek will head out on the road to square off against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Smoky Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Grandview, they will be playing at home against the Raptors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Eaglecrest will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
