One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. The action included a dizzyingly high 114-point combined score from Rainier and Amity.
Can't Touch This
Hermiston's 61 - 42 win over Eisenhower last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Wyatt Noland. Noland ran for 303 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Noland as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between West Linn (7th in the power rankings) and Tualatin (9th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. West Linn breezed past Tualatin with a final score of 45 - 20. One major factor in the win was the play of senior Ethan Long, who finished up with 367 yards passing and two rushing touchdowns.
No Stoppin 'Em
Rainier and Amity went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (114) among all power ranked teams. Rainier battled it out with Amity for a well-earned 60 - 54 overtime win. Rainier saw its record improve to 7-0 and its power rank jump ten places as a result.
Next Week's Big Game

We'll see if it can add another positive mark to its record or if Tualatin can shake off its defeat and take the spring out of Lake Oswego's step.
