Basketball Recap: Bloomington North Finds Home Court Redemption Against Owen Valley

There's no place like home for Bloomington North, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Owen Valley Patriots on Tuesday as the Bloomington North Cougars made off with a 53-31 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Bloomington North found their leader in freshman Katharine Lehr, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards. Lehr also set a new season-high mark in steals with eight. Rilynn Williams was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Despite the defeat, Owen Valley had strong showings from Aubrey Sparks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards, and Hannah Bixler, who posted nine points. That was a full 51.6% of Owen Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Bloomington North is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Owen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bloomington North will take on Mooresville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Owen Valley, they will square off against Brown County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Owen Valley is facing Brown County at the right time seeing as Brown County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
