C2 District 6 recap October 1, 2013
Lutheran-Northeast extended the longest winning streak in C2 District 6 this week by beating West Holt, 29-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Battle Creek took down Wakefield 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nate Gray ran for 156 yards during the win.
Dillon Larby was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Huskies fell to Lutheran-Northeast. The 6-foot-0 junior.
Gray provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Braves bested the Trojans. Gray's favorite target this week was Jared Bellar, who caught 2 passes for 33 yards.
Connor Osborne put up the best numbers through the air as West Holt lost to Darin Suckstorf's team. He finished with 5 completions for 105 yards. Osborne's favorite target this week was Josiah McAllister, who caught 2 passes for 87 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Steve Neptune's team's Osborne and Ryan Linders have proven to be a lethal combination. Osborne has thrown for 434 yards this season, while Linders, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 3 catches for 131 yards. Battle Creek's Gray leads the league in rushing yards with 659.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Lutheran-Northeast takes on second place Cedar Catholic.
One of C2 District 6's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Huskies and Andrew Carlson's team face off next week.
The league will see a high scoring game when West Holt and the Braves face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Huskies comes in having scored 122 this season, while Battle Creek has scored 177. West Holt scored 14 points last week as it lost to the Eagles.
Cedar Catholic made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,106 from 4,670. The improvement was the result of a 26-13 victory over Crofton last week.
