Harrison Central is 2-7 against Gulfport since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Harrison Central Red Rebels will be playing at home against the Gulfport Admirals at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Harrison Central missed an extra point against Biloxi on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Harrison Central and Biloxi were almost perfectly matched up, but Harrison Central suffered an agonizing 24-23 loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tri Gaughf, who threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tyree Barnett was another key contributor, picking up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Gulfport faced Ocean Springs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Gulfport ended up on the wrong side of a tough 30-7 walloping at the hands of Ocean Springs on Friday. The low total for Gulfport limited their streak of high-flying scores to three in a row.
Harrison Central's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Gulfport, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Harrison Central came up short against Gulfport when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 29-19. Thankfully for Harrison Central, Emmanuel Bentley (who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
