Basketball Recap: College Station Skates Past Crockett with Ease

College Station came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Crockett Cougars 65-35. Given College Station's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Crockett is ranked 741st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crockett lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lauren Smith, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Anais Djang, who had six points and five rebounds.

College Station is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Crockett, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

College Station will welcome Brenham at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brenham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for Crockett, they will head out to square off against Cedar Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crockett is facing Cedar Creek at the right time seeing as Cedar Creek is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
