The Philip Barbour Colts will welcome the South Harrison Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Philip Barbour is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Philip Barbour will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Lincoln, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Colts simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Cougars 55-8. Considering the Colts have won eight games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Philip Barbour to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Bennett, who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Tristan Price made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Philip Barbour was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 410 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
Philip Barbour didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Bennett, Price, and Malachi Poling picked up one apiece. Price got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, South Harrison made easy work of Ravenswood on Friday and carried off a 28-7 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
South Harrison's win came from a few key players Philip Barbour will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Madden Maxwell, who rushed for 74 yards and three scores on only six carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September. Landon Ross was another key player, rushing for 146 yards on only 13 carries.
Philip Barbour's record now sits at 8-2. As for South Harrison, their record is now 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Philip Barbour has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Harrison struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 292.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Philip Barbour against South Harrison when the teams last played back in October, as the squad secured a 49-22 victory. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
