The Fayetteville Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Ganado Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Fayetteville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Aggieland HomeSchool on Thursday. Fayetteville never let Aggieland HomeSchool get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The matchup marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Easton Jaeger was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Schley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jack LeMaire also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Fayetteville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aggieland HomeSchool only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Ganado entered their tilt with Weimar on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Wildcats 15-5. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by exactly ten runs.
Callen Hajovsky was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Ganado is undefeated when Hajovsky posts two or more runs, but 1-5-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cade Nixon, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Fayetteville pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ganado, their record is now 4-5-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fayetteville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Ganado struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fayetteville came out on top in a nail-biter against Ganado in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, sneaking past 1-0. Will Fayetteville repeat their success, or does Ganado have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
