Baseball Recap: Collegiate's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Collegiate barely beat Augusta the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Orioles 10-4 on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Carter Drumright and Max Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Drumright scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Williams went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave Williams a new career-high. Isaac Vanderburg was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Collegiate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Augusta only posted a batting average of .200.

Collegiate pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Augusta, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Collegiate will challenge Winfield at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Augusta, they will face off against El Dorado at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
