The Southeast Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Crestview Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Southeast has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Things were looking good for Southeast after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Jackson-Milton by a score of 12-11. Even though they lost, the Pirates' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 7 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Bailey Morris and Morgan Muncy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Morris went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Muncy went 1-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Morris also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Neena Truex was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Crestview entered their tilt with Struthers on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Cassidee Buckley's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Gia Depace was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Cloutier, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Crestview, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Southeast's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Pirates have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Crestview, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Southeast continue to outrun the ball?
Southeast beat Crestview 10-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
