Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Varela). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Killian Cougars 75-45. The Vipers pushed the score to 61-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Varela's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Reyes led the charge by going 7 for 14 on his way to 21 points. Christian Marquez was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Varela was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Killian still got an impressive performance from Christian Torres, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 21 points and five boards. That was a full 46.7% of Killian's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Gonzalez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points.

Varela pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Killian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
