Softball Recap: Evansville North Extends Winning Streak to Two

In Monday's Canine Competition, Evansville North prevailed. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs a 13-0 shutout on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Adleigh Whitler looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Kami Meyerholtz and Charleigh Hankins did most of the damage at the plate: Meyerholtz went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hankins went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Meyerholtz has hit this season. Kennedy Jones was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Evansville North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evansville Bosse only managed one hit.

The win made it two in a row for Evansville North and bumps their season record up to 14-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Evansville Bosse, their defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evansville North will head out to square off against Jasper at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evansville Bosse, they will venture away from home to challenge Cannelton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
