Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jacob Borg and Cael Johnson

Wakefield scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Battle Creek Braves. The defeat leaves the Trojans without a win on the season.

Despite the loss, Wakefield had strong showings from Cael Johnson, who went 9 for 21 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds, and Jacob Borg, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and five steals. That was a full 40.4% of Wakefield's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Birkley, who had seven points and seven boards.

Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Battle Creek, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Wakefield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-36 victory against Bloomfield on the 17th. As for Battle Creek, they will welcome North Bend Central at 7:45 p.m. on December 20th. Battle Creek is facing North Bend Central at the right time seeing as North Bend Central is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
