Chaparral extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They came up short against the Del Sol Dragons, falling 30-12. Even if the Cowboys couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Pii Muafono made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samson Laolagi-Aloy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Del Sol, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Del Sol's side, Tony Luna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Luna was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Del Sol let Isaac Vollink and Christopher Sanchez run wild. Vollink got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple, while Sanchez got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Vollink has posted since back in February of 2025. Kaden Tinsley was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaparral will challenge Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Del Sol, they will square off against Canyon Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
