Basketball Game Preview: Cottage Cougars vs. Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds

The Cottage Cougars will square off against the Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cottage is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Cottage came up short against Covenant Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 33-12. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite their loss, Cottage saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Grace Workman, who posted two points and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Workman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Pressnall, who had four points along with seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Notre Dame Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Praise Academy 60-20. The Irish Wolfhounds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 33 points or more this season.

Notre Dame Academy found their leader in sophomore Jazlynn Brown, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds. Cara Amadi was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven steals and five boards.

Notre Dame Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Cottage, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Cottage was taken down by Notre Dame Academy 63-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 30 boards.
