The Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the Amplus Academy Archers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley will be strutting in after a win while Amplus Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, Valley gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 65-14 victory over Eldorado at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Valley has managed all season.
Jennifer Hughes and Anaya Williams were among the main playmakers for Valley as the former scored six points along with 17 rebounds and four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Williams also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Steidler, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Amplus Academy, who are still winless after their tenth matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 51-23 loss at the hands of Bonanza. Amplus Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-9.
Hailey Park was Amplus Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Talaya Allen held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Valley's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Amplus Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Valley have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Amplus Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.7 rebounds per game. Given Valley's sizeable advantage in that area, Amplus Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Valley against Amplus Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 43-8 victory. With Valley ahead 32-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
