After each having a week off, the Parkview Panthers and the Duluth Wildcats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Parkview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.3 points per game this season.
Parkview is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games last Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-16 heartbreaker at the hands of Norcross. The Panthers gained 121 more yards on the day, but it was the Blue Devils that made the best use of them.
Parkview might have lost, but man, Sterling Dixon was a machine: he rushed for 104 yards on only nine carries, and also caught one TD. Dixon also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Ja Kaden Mobley for the heroic effort on defense: he. Parkview didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed ten in total. All came from Jonathan Moura: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points and added another on an extra point kick.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Duluth). They claimed a resounding 54-7 win over Berkmar. The Wildcats have beaten the Patriots the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Patriots has come to flipping the script.
Parkview better keep an eye on Shamar Banner. He was instrumental in Duluth's win, throwing for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Banner's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Duluth's leading receiver DeTwann Collins was Banner's top target yet again, picking up 91 receiving yards and three scores.
Duluth now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Parkview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Parkview has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Duluth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 205.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Parkview was able to grind out a solid victory over Duluth in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 27-14. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
