The East Mecklenburg Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Garinger 89-50 at home. Winning may never get old, but East Mecklenburg sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
East Mecklenburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryson Heath led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Heath has scored at least 25% of East Mecklenburg's points. Ahmari Hicks was another key contributor, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assists.
East Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Garinger, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
East Mecklenburg will head out on the road to face off against Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Butler knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully East Mecklenburg likes a good challenge. Garinger will be home for the holidays to greet Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Garinger in North Carolina (Independence is ranked 130th, while Garinger is ranked 597th).
