The Lewisville Lions fought the good fight in their overtime match against the McBee Panthers on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Panthers 40-36. Lewisville has not had much luck with McBee recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Lewisville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mariah Wallace, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Wallace hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiyana Murrell, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds.
Lewisville's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3. As for McBee, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewisville will square off against Great Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Great Falls comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for McBee, they will head out on the road to challenge C.A. Johnson at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
