The Dixon Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 69 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Dixon and Croatan wasn't particularly close, with Dixon falling 86-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (66), Dixon still had to take the loss.
Dixon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cooper Tozier, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Anderson-Sidbury, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Croatan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kannon McBride, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McBride has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hilliard, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Dixon has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Croatan, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Dixon will square off against Richlands at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Croatan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against White Oak at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
