Baseball Recap: Edgewood Extends Winning Streak to Three

Edgewood extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 6-4 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Conneaut Spartans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Elliot Tobie tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Edgewood got a massive performance out of Zane Naylor, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Naylor has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Fell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Edgewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Conneaut, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2023, but that streak is no more.

On Conneaut's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chetti Arcaro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Arcaro has hit this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewood will take on Grand Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Conneaut, they will square off against Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
