It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Sandia Matadors can now relate to. They were dealt a 38-6 defeat at the hands of Rio Rancho on Friday. It was the first time this season that Sandia let down their fans at home.
Rio Rancho was led to victory by Rayce Ramirez and Jj Arellano. Ramirez rushed for 75 yards and three touchdowns, while Arellano rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Arellano's longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards.
Sandia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Rio Rancho, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Sandia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rio Rancho will be playing at home against Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cleveland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
