Southlands Christian is 0-7 against Western Christian since February of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Fighting Lancers at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Southlands Christian was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Capistrano Valley Christian. The high-scoring effort was just what Southlands Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Analisa Guerrero was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. Taya Marvel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Southlands Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capistrano Valley Christian only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Western Christian waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-2 victory.
The team relied heavily on Giada Partida, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryana Munoz, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Southlands Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Western Christian, their record now sits at 12-9.
Southlands Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Western Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Southlands Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Southlands Christian might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Western Christian in their previous matchup on April 10th. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
