The Byron-Bergen Bees will venture away from home to challenge the Elba Lancers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Byron-Bergen's victory against Caledonia-Mumford wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bees had just enough and edged out the Raiders 6-4. The win was some much needed relief for the Bees as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

04/07/25 @ Attica | 3 |
04/03/25 vs Pembroke | 2 |
Martin McConnell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Byron-Bergen is 2-1 when McConnell posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise. Jeremiah Romero also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
While Elba didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Attica on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Lancers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Nicholas Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brendan Porey, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Norton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Elba pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.0 runs this season. As for Byron-Bergen, their record is now 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Byron-Bergen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Elba struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Byron-Bergen came up short against Elba when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 7-2. Can the Bees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
