The Harnett Central Trojans will challenge the South View Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harnett Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Harnett Central blew Triton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Triton got their revenge. The Trojans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-3. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Molly Champion made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Hayden Harris was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, South View waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Golden Bulls 19-1. Considering the Tigers have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
JORDYNN PARNELL made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on SAMANTHA CERTAIN, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was CAILEY SPENCE, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
South View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
South View's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Harnett Central, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Harnett Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like South View struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Harnett Central came out on top in a nail-biter against South View when the teams last played on Thursday, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
