The Regents Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Cornerstone Christian Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Regents has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Cornerstone Christian will arrive with nine straight wins.
Regents pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to San Antonio Patriots HomeSchool at home by a decisive 76-58 margin.
Cornerstone Christian posted their biggest victory since November 21, 2023 last Friday. They really took it to Savio for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-44 win at home. Given Cornerstone Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Savio is ranked 1201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cornerstone Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zander Parra, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Davis Mccray, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Regents bumped their record down to 14-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Cornerstone Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Regents was able to grind out a solid victory over Cornerstone Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 57-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Regents since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
