Football Recap: Farmington Starts Season with Win Against Roy

Farmington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Roy Royals 37-7 on Friday. The Phoenix pushed the score to 34-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Royals had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Farmington to victory were Drew Love and Will Peterson. Love rushed for 146 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries, while Peterson threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Peterson a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Farmington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in eight consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Farmington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-3 defeat against Bountiful on the 22nd. As for Roy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 37-12 loss against Syracuse on the 22nd.
