Basketball Recap: Horizon Skates Past Evans with Ease

Horizon posted their biggest victory since January 9th on Friday. They blew past the Evans Trojans, posting a 48-18 win. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 24 points or more this season.

Horizon had a senior duo take command as Kassandra Cortez went 6 of 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to five steals and three blocks and Sofia Duque posted eight points and four steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Cortez. Dominique Johnson-Flyod also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first boards of the season.

The victory (which was Horizon's third in a row) raised their record to 15-8. As for Evans, they dropped their record down to 6-14 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Horizon will challenge Bartow on Thursday. Horizon is facing Bartow at the right time seeing as Bartow is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Evans has already played their next match (against Wekiva), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
