If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Watauga. They will challenge McDowell on the road at 7:30 PM on Friday. McDowell will need to watch out since Watauga have now posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
Watauga might be getting used to good results now that the squad has eight wins in a row. They steamrollered St. Stephens 49-7. Followers of Watauga probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected seven blowout victories.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 48 points the game before, McDowell faltered in their contest last Friday. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-49 to Alexander Central. McDowell were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-35.
Watauga took the match and then some with a 61-17 victory over McDowell the last time the two teams met. The rematch might be a little tougher for Watauga since the team won't have home-field advantage. Watch the game and check back on MaxPreps to see if the change in venue makes a difference.
