Baseball Recap: West Memphis Christian Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

West Memphis Christian won against DeSoto last Monday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. West Memphis Christian won by a run and slipped past DeSoto 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Black Knights have posted since February 20, 2024.

Cannon Morgan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Morgan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xander Skoff, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Skoff launched this season. Terry Sharp was another, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

West Memphis Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. DeSoto is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Memphis Christian will host North Sunflower Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DeSoto, they will face off against Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
